Admissions

The Governing Body, as the admission authority, determines the school’s admission policy and arrangements and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admission. The Governing body works with the Local Authority in order to ensure admissions are coordinated within the Borough.

Nursery

Our nursery has been running for over 25 years, and in 2014 moved into its own building with garden within the school grounds.  The nursery runs morning and afternoon sessions, with the option of full time, we will take up to 30 children in each session.  Our team of experienced staff provide a warm, friendly and safe environment for your little ones. Please click here to be directed to the Nursery page where you will be able to download a copy of the nursery application form with terms and conditions.

Primary

The reception year is when most children will join Castle Newnham School, some may have attended our nursery, but for many this will be their first time within a school environment.  We provide a friendly and transitional environment for those starting school.  The classrooms all lead onto a play area just for reception children and we provide structure opportunities for the children to interact with the rest of the school, to help build their confidence over the course of the year.

Reception to year 4 are based on our South site. Years 5 and 6 are based on the North site and have their own separate annexe however, they are also able to access the secondary facilities.

Secondary

The Governing Body of Newnham Middle School as was,  consulted on changing the age range of the school so that it became an 11 -16 secondary school. By September 2019 there will be five year groups in the school from age 11 to 16, years 7 to 11. For 2018 there will be an entry point at year 7, but there will only be 30 places available to new pupils to take account of those pupils already in the school and moving into year 7. For admissions into year 7 from 2019 onwards there will be 150 places. Year 6 parents will be able to apply for year 7 places as part of the coordinated transfer process run by Bedford Borough Council.

In Year Admissions

Requests for admissions into the school for any year group during the academic year, should be made to the Local Authority on the In-Year application form.  The form is available from the school or Local Authority website.
