PE & Sports Grant
At the school we have a very strong sports and PE ethos, aimed at including and encouraging all children within the school.
In 2013, The Government announced their intention to invest heavily in the provision for Physical Education in Primary Schools across the country. This has led to the allocation of additional funding that has been ‘ring fenced’ for special use in improving PE and sport in Primary Schools.
Here at Castle Newnham our vision is to provide the highest quality PE and school sport for all children, of all abilities.
Castle Newnham has received £9000, for the year 2016/2017. We believe that taking part in sport is a key factor in developing an individual’s well being, both physically and mentally. We aim to provide every child with the opportunity to practice, participate and compete in sport and learn key values such as respect, cooperation and teamwork.

This year we continue our aim to make sustainable long term use of the PE grant funding. We believe strongly in a research based approach to using our grant and as such have identified keys areas which will make best use of this grant.
Our 2016-17 programme kicks off with a gymnastics club run by an expert coach Carl Denham. He is assisted by members of the primary PE department who can fine tune their own skills and learn at the same time as our pupils do. We hope this will impact on increasing the level of physical literacy for our pupils as well as the school gymnastics provision.
